Family Responsibility
"Young men and women, you can be a great influence for good in your homes as you help to achieve worthy family objectives. I shall never forget the family home evening, years ago, in which the name of each member of our family was placed in a hat. The name you picked from the hat would be your 'secret friend' for the week. You can imagine the love that filled my heart when I came home that Tuesday after work to sweep out the garage, as I had earlier promised, and found it cleanly swept. There was a note attached to the garage door which read, 'Hope you had a good day--your secret friend.' And on Friday night, as I turned down my bed, I uncovered an Almond Joy, my favorite candy bar, wrapped carefully in scotch tape and plain white paper, with a note: 'Dad, I love you a lot! Thanks, your secret friend.' Then to top it off, after returning home from a late meeting Sunday evening, I found the dining room table beautifully set, and written on the napkin by my place were the words 'SUPER DAD' in big bold letters and in parentheses, 'your secret friend.' Hold your family home evenings, for this is where the gospel is taught, a testimony gained, and the family fortified."

Dear Sisters,
I sincerely hope you all have had wonderful family time over the holidays! As I read this quote I thought what better way to start the new year ..but to continue thinking to ourselves....What can I do special to show the ones that I love and care about in my life, that they are special to me? This story can be adapted to every family situation, sometimes we may have to be creative, maybe we will have to mail cards or make phone calls but their is always a way to serve one another if we seek the opportunity.

January's Visiting Teaching Message
“Stand Strong and Immovable in Faith,” Ensign, Jan 2009, 61
Teach the scriptures and quotations that meet the needs of the sisters you visit. Bear testimony of the doctrine. Invite those you teach to share what they have felt and learned.
Mosiah 5:15: “Be steadfast and immovable, always abounding in good works, that Christ, the Lord God Omnipotent, may seal you his, that you may be brought to heaven, that ye may have everlasting salvation and eternal life.”
How Can I Stand Strong and Immovable in Faith?
3 Nephi 6:14: “The church was broken up in all the land save it were among a few of the Lamanites who were converted unto the true faith; and they would not depart from it, for they were firm, and steadfast, and immovable, willing with all diligence to keep the commandments of the Lord.”
Julie B. Beck, Relief Society general president: “Latter-day Saint women must be strong and immovable in their faith. They can and should excel in living and sharing their testimonies of the Lord Jesus Christ and His restored gospel. We do this as we:
“1. Make and keep covenants with Him.
“2. Are worthy and worship in His temples.
“3. Study His doctrine in the scriptures and the words of prophets.
“4. Qualify for, recognize, and follow the Holy Ghost.
“5. Share and defend His gospel.
“6. Participate in sincere personal and family prayer.
“7. Have family home evening.
“8. Live principles of self-reliance and provident living.
“These are essential things which must be done before nonessential things. Enrichment Night in December
Here are pictures from last Thursday's enrichment night. A wonderful time was had by all. We had yummy food and fun time visiting with each other. We sang Christmas hymns together. Kay Tusieseina and Kendyl Crockett performed a special musical number for us. Kathleen Green read us a beautiful Christmas story. Thanks to all the sister's who came. For those who were unable to make it we missed you and hope you will make it next time.

The Activity Committee Needs Our Help
Dear Sisters,
We need help from the Relief Society sisters for our ward Christmas party. We need empty vegetable, soup, etc cans. Any size except the small tuna cans. Please rinse out the can and take off the label and bring them to the church on Sunday. We are using them for our decorations and would greatly appreciate everyone's help.

Prayer Request

Holy Socks!
President and Sister Drewes (i.e. Mission President and his wife) have asked for black church socks for our precious missionarie. With all of their hard work, they have worn right through theirs. "
Our RS presidency has a stake meeting on Saturday, November 8th and we have been asked to bring the socks then! If you would like to help the missionaries by contributing "Holy Socks" for the NLR Mission please bring them to church the next two Sundays... and we will be proud to deliver them for you.

The First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles: “All human beings—male and female—are created in the image of God. Each is a beloved spirit son or daughter of heavenly parents, and, as such, each has a divine nature and destiny. Gender is an essential characteristic of individual premortal, mortal, and eternal identity and purpose” (“The Family: A Proclamation to the World,” Liahona, Oct. 2004, 49; Ensign, Nov. 1995, 102).
Why Is Gender Essential?
Elder David A. Bednar of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles: “[Gender] in large measure defines who we are, why we are here upon the earth, and what we are to do and become. For divine purposes, male and female spirits are different, distinctive, and complementary. … The unique combination of spiritual, physical, mental, and emotional capacities of both males and females were needed to implement the plan of happiness” (“Marriage Is Essential to His Eternal Plan,” Liahona, June 2006, 51; Ensign, June 2006, 83).
