"If you are a mother, you participate with God in His work of creation—not only by providing physical bodies for your children but also by teaching and nurturing them. If you are not a mother now, the creative talents you develop will prepare you for that day, in this life or the next.
"You may think you don't have talents, but that is a false assumption, for we all have talents and gifts, every one of us (see D&C 46:11–12). The bounds of creativity extend far beyond the limits of a canvas or a sheet of paper and do not require a brush, a pen, or the keys of a piano. Creation means bringing into existence something that did not exist before—colorful gardens, harmonious homes, family memories, flowing laughter.
"What you create doesn't have to be perfect. . . . Don't let the voices of critics paralyze you—whether that voice comes from the outside or the inside.
"If you still feel incapable of creating, start small. Try to see how many smiles you can create, write a letter of appreciation, learn a new skill, identify a space and beautify it."

Spring Fling Info

The Relief Society Spring Fling is on Saturday May 9th starting at 10am at the Stake Center. The theme is "This is our Time - to love, to learn , and to serve."

*We've been asked to bring every sister we can. We're planning a fun activity for this. Laurels are also invited.

*We are supposed to bring Desserts for our wonderful Dessert Bar.

*There will be no nursery. Sorry. If you need assistance with your children to be able to attend, please let someone in the RS Presidency know.

*Also we are asked to participate in the SCHOOL BAG SERVICE PROJECT. In addition to needing the bags, they are asking for donations of pencils, boxes of 12 colored pencils, 12" rulers, pink pearl erasers (3/4 x 1-1 1/2 "), Spiral notebooks, school scissors (blunt nosed with metal blades), pencil sharpeners (small student kind with container for the shavings attached).

Compassionate Service is in the Bag!

Dear Sisters:

LDS Humanitarian Services is donating almost 10,000 school bags filled with school supplies to children in Arkansas. Our Relief Society sisters need the opportunity to help to replenish the number of bags that Humanitarian Services has to distribute. Please organize in sewing the bags described (on the handout) and bring your completed bags to our Relief Society Spring Fling on Saturday, May 9, 2009. We want to post them on the walls of the cultural hall so we can show the wonderful things that Relief Society sisters are doing to help children around the world.

RS Message for April

God's Messengers
"When the time for [the] Savior's advent was at hand, an angel was sent to announce to Mary that she was to be the mother of the Son of God. Then a host of angels was commissioned to sing on the night the baby Jesus was born. Shortly thereafter an angel would announce to Joseph that the newborn baby was in danger and this little family must flee to Egypt for safety. When it was safe to return, an angel conveyed that information to the family and the three returned to the land of their heritage.

"From the beginning down through the dispensations, God has used angels as His emissaries in conveying love and concern for His children. . . . "Usually such beings are not seen. Sometimes they are. But seen or unseen they are always near. Sometimes their assignments are very grand and have significance for the whole world. Sometimes the messages are more private. Occasionally the angelic purpose is to warn. But most often it is to comfort, to provide some form of merciful attention, guidance in difficult times."

A Wonderful & Busy Weekend Ahead

This weekend we have the privilege to listen to the Prophet , Apostles and General Authorities of the Church. The General Conference will be broadcast at the church building, on BYU-TV and also on the Internet at www.lds.org. Sessions times are 11am & 3pm both Saturday & Sunday. There is also a Priesthood Session Saturday Night for the men & YM at 7pm.

In addition, on Saturday at 5:15 (following Conference) there will be a Easter Egg Hunt at the Church for the Primary, followed by a Ward Potluck at 6pm with the men adjourning to the Priesthood Session of Conference by 7pm. If you have a child who will be participating, you should contact Veda Charlton for info.

A Great Evening has been planned for our Relief Society Birthday Celebration! Women from the Conway 1st and Conway 2nd Wards along with the Kierre Branch will be gathered together. We will be having a nice dinner, some beautiful music, and a special presentation among other things. We will also be participating in a SERVICE PROJECT that night by bringing items for donation to CAPCA. Below is the list of things they need donated:

Body soap bars
Deodorant
Toothbrushes
Toothpaste
Laundry soap
Dish soap
Dishwasher soap
Baby soap
Baby shampoo
Baby lotion
Wipes
Diapers, size 1 and 2 preferably

What a great way to celebrate the organization of the Relief Society by sisters gathering together giving some relief to others.

We are so excited to meet together with you this month !! It just makes us want to giggle :) :) We love you and it just makes us happy all over to think we get to spend time with you! First for the visiting teaching workshop this Sunday and then for the celebration of the Relief Society's Birthday! We are truly blessed to have one another! It feels so great when we see you serving one another as the Lord has asked us all to do. Thank you for letting us know the needs of the dear sisters that you visit each week...we love each of them and want to know about their joys and their sorrows....Thank you for helping us to stay in touch...

RS Message For March

"Just as the motto of Relief Society reminds us that 'charity never faileth,' we must believe that the love of Christ will never fail us. All that we do in Relief Society should reflect the love of our Savior and the love of our Heavenly Father. This great love should be the source of our motivation to serve others. It must be both our point of origin and our destination!"
